The Guitar Store

The Guitar Store in Southampton have built on their worldwide notoriety for the shop front for their electric guitar store with a new addition to their backline - a new acoustic guitar store, modelled on a Marshall AS50 acoustic amp!

Located two doors down from their current shop in Commercial Road, Southampton, the amp has a grill-effect finish to the shutters, with the classic Marshall badge, and an exact reproduction of the Marshall AS50's faceplate, including a light-up power switch! Having such an eye-catching front for their Electric Guitar Store, Directors Jamie & Wes Goatley knew they would have to reach the standard they already set for themselves with their last shop, and the Marshall AS50 acoustic shop was born!

It doesn't stop at the front either - the inside is done out to look like an old fashioned guitar shed and porch, with a saloon-style counter entrance, vintage guitar memorabilia all over the walls, a corrugated roof over the main counter, and of course, a rocking chair!

The Acoustic Guitar Store is filled with all manner of acoustic instruments, from mandolins, ukuleles, and banjos through to good old-fashioned acoustic guitars. Check out our latest photo album entitled 'The Guitar Store' on our Myspace profile.

Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards 2009

Monday evening the biggest names in rock royalty descended on The Park Lane Hotel in London for the Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards 2009. The impressive star-studded guest list included greats such as Pete Townsend, Slash, Tony Iommi Brian May, Ronnie Wood and Jimmy Page to name just a select few.

Our very own Paul Marshall also attended the event to represent the company and introduce Joe Perry onto the stage to present one lucky winner with the 'Marshall 11 Award' This year the prestigious award went to ZZ Top's Billy F Gibbons. Paul said of the event, "It was such an honour to be on the stage with Joe Perry and Billy Gibbons, both heros of mine and also to have the opportunity to meet just about every other hero of mine throughout the evening."

For a full run down of the evenings events go to www.classicrockmagazine.com and a full list of winners can be found at www.blabbermouth.net

Slayer postpones 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' and 'Canadian Carnage' dates

It is with great regret that Slayer announces the postponement of its "Canadian Carnage" tour with Megadeth, which was due to begin on November 8. In addition, the band announces the postponement of its appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," which had been set for this Wednesday, 4th November. More information will be released shortly regarding the rescheduling of the Canadian dates, as well as the 'Kimmel' appearance.

Slayer's Tom Araya is currently under the care of a specialist for a back injury, thought to be related to his on-stage activity, and the physician has ordered an immediate surgical procedure to take place in Texas this morning (Tuesday).

What is foremost in our minds right now is that Tom do whatever he needs to to get this taken care of," said Slayer's Kerry King. "While all four of us are disappointed that we won't be able to see through all of our commitments set for the next few weeks, the most important thing is Tom's health.  We thank the fans in Canada and L.A., the Megadeth camp, and everyone associated with 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' for their understanding. We look forward to seeing you all soon.

Slayer's Kerry King, Jeff Hanneman and Dave Lombardo are looking forward to meeting their fans at a previously announced in-store appearance this Wednesday, 4th November at 3:30pm at the Hot Topic store located at the Hollywood and Highland complex.  Slayer's World Painted Blood is released today (Wednesday).

From everyone at Marshall Amplification we wish Tom a full and speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back on stage very soon.

Pretty in Pink

Marshall Amplification is widely known for the generous support we give many local and national charities and we certainly didn't disappoint this time round. In association with Hard Rock Cafe, the month of October became Pinktober to promote the fight against breast cancer and Hard Rock Cafes and Hotels everywhere have been hosting Pinktober parties and live music events to help raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. One such music event is Women of Rock, being held on 1st November 2009 at Royal Albert Hall, featuring prominent female stars such as Joss Stone, Melanie C and Jamelia to name just a few and we will be doing our bit by providing the event with an impressive backline of Marshall stacks - all covered in bright pink of course!

Not only have we been covering our amps in pink, but we've all been dressing in pink too! The last Friday of the month saw everyone in the company don pink to show their support. We had 40 limited edition pink Marshall t-shirts made which were sold to staff members for £10 each along with a collection bucket that went round the whole factory. We should be able to announce the final amount we raised early next week.

Tip of the Week

Check out our latest blog we've just posted on our Myspace site! Our brand new 'Tip of the Week' this week explains how to get that great power blues tone out of your Marshall Haze40 combo.
