If you are having problems accessing the Licklibrary Website relative to your membership status, it is very likely that your security and privacy settings within your web browser are too high and are subsequently blocking 'cookies'.

Cookies are necessary for Licklibrary, as they contain your personal information and settings to use our website correctly, so that no matter where you are in the world, when you login to Licklibrary you will be able to use the website the way you have customised it and achieve the level of access that is relevant to the type of membership you have.

Below is configuration information relevant to the most popular web browser currently in use for the PC (and the one we recommend for full compatibility on our website), Internet Explorer version 6 (IE6) (Although the settings are very similar for IE versions 5 and 5.5). We recommend that Mac users use Safari over IE for the Mac, as there are a number of bugs with IE for the Mac that Microsoft will not be fixing as it's a product they no longer support.

In order to check for the correct IE browser settings and to ensure cookies are enabled, you need to follow these simple steps.

1) Open Internet Explorer and select 'Tools' from the main menu at the top of the window.

2) Next, select 'Internet Options' from the menu list. This will open a new window.

3) In the section marked 'Temporary Internet files' select the button marked 'Settings....'

4) In the section titled 'Check for newer versions of stored pages:' ensure the 'Automatically' option is marked (select it if it's not), then click 'OK'

5) Now Select the 'Security' tab at the top and ensure that the slider for 'Security level for this zone' is set to 'MEDIUM'

6) Next select the 'Privacy' tab and check that the slider is set to 'MEDIUM'. Now click the button marked 'Advanced' and check to ensure that the box marked 'Override automatic cookie handling' is UNTICKED, then click 'OK'

7) On the Privacy tab page again, press the button marked 'Edit...'
NB: Windows XP users that are running Service Pack 2 will see this button marked as 'Sites...'

8) In the box named 'Address of Web site:' type the following (without the quotation marks) "www.licklibrary.com" and press the 'Allow' button (NOT the 'Block' button!! ;) ) If successful, you will see 'Licklibrary.com' listed in the 'Managed Web sites:' box with the setting 'Always Allow'

9) When you are finished, click the 'OK' button, and then click the next 'OK' button. Finally close IE6 and open it again, and try accessing www.licklibrary.com again.

Hopefully by carefully following the above steps, this will fix the problem for you, but if not, the next thing to try is a 'flush' of your Internet Temporary Files (or Cache), plus your current stored cookies

NB:- if you have passwords stored for other websites that use cookies, these will be lost if you delete your cookies, so make sure you have a record of all your usernames and passwords for these websites!!

To perform this 'flush' you need to do the following (This applies to IE6 again):-

1) Open Internet Explorer and select Tools -> Internet Options and select the ‘Delete Cookies’ and afterwards the ‘Delete Files’ button options from this menu window (it is optional to tick the box marked 'Delete All Offline Content', so you can leave it as it is and click 'OK'). This may take a few minutes if there is a large amount of files stored in your cache)

2) Upon completion of both tasks close IE6 and then re-open it to access Licklibrary.com

3) If you have been successful in deleting your cookies, the opening home page will say 'Join Lick Library' and NOT ‘Hi “your registered name”, welcome back to Licklibrary.com’. Also when you select 'Login' at the top your your username will NOT appear automatically (but once logged in using the ‘Remember me’ option this will be automatically stored once again)

If after all of this you still have limited website access but are a full member, then it's likely that you have some additional internet security/antivirus or firewall software which is blocking the use of cookies (e.g. Norton Internet Security, Zone Alarm etc) or if you are using a PC in the workplace, it's possible your network administrator has implemented security settings restricting the use of cookies, so you will need to check this out too.

In the case of any internet security software such as Norton Internet Security, you may need to temporarily disable it whilst using Licklibrary.com, as it's likely it is overriding your web browser settings.
