I loved both last webcasts, very good idea. Stuart is a exceptional guitarist and teacher.

I got an unbelievable amount of value from listening to his answers to what seemed like simple questions (eg: what he played to show micro tonal bending was superb). Overall, both WebCasts far exceeded my expectations. Thanks.

I wanted to thank you (the whole team) very much for the additional North America webcast today. I stayed home from work so I could be there for both webcasts, and I'm glad I did. You're really getting the process down, and these webcasts are flowing very smoothly, both from content and a technical perspective. There was some great info, and Stu - you sounded terrific!

I asked a question regarding what to use to record guitar on a PC and Stuart was able to offer some comments on that, as did other participants in the chat. So I was grateful for that. Cheryl was the perfect host and answered my queries swiftly. Thanks for that!

March 2010 - US Edition

Did you miss our March webcast or want to watch it again? Then you’re in the right place.

In this webcast from 11th March 2010, LickLibrary co-founder Stuart Bull hosted the second of two LIVE broadcasts answered all new LIVE questions from our members in the USA & Canada .
We also gave away two bundles of guitar tuition goodies to the lucky winners picked at random on Twitter and Facebook before the show so Congrats to David and Neil!

Q&A's from the webcast

Q. How do you obtain a great tone with light strings? (@ 27:40)
A. That’s a really easy question to answer; you have to be a fantastic player. Because John Mcenroe could pick up a frying pan and still beat you at tennis, why is that? Because he has alot of talent. Eddie Van Halen, used 9’s as far as I know, I think even the low string was a 40 and early on in his career he was tuning down. If you’re using a sound with quite alot of gain, the thicker strings are not really going to make so much difference, although they might make the tuning a little bit more stable.
Q. Do you like a thicker or thinner neck? (@ 26:30)
A. For me I don’t like a neck that’s too thick, I don’t like the real skinny shredding necks, although there’s nothing wrong with them, but they’re not for me. I like something like a Paul Reed Smith Wide Thin is good, although I do have to say on some old guitars that have got thick necks there’s something about the tone, that sometimes that thick neck can make the difference. Especially on some of the vintage Strats.
