Never mind. He’s worked for it, and he’s there now. And he’s still working. Lick Library TV interviewed him before his Cambridge date – the bus pulled in, he sorted out an Interflora delivery (it was Valentine’s Day), grabbed an acoustic, and sat down to tell us all about how he came by his technique, how much he practises, who influences him and why he doesn’t stick to a strict pentatonic blues scale. It’s a must for any aspiring rock or blues player.
We hung around for the sound check, after which Bonamassa stayed up on stage and gave us a quick tour of his four-amp rig while his lunch got cold. And that left him just enough time to prepare for the gig itself. And, as you can see from the exclusive live footage we shot that evening, that’s where the work really begins. Check it out. And make a note to get in line for tickets next time he’s on tour in your neck of the woods.
