Lick Library Faves Shine at The Kerrang! Awards 2009

Tue, 04 Aug 2009

We are happy to announce the success of some of LickLibrary's favourite featured artists at the Kerrang Awards 2009! With a fantastic 4 nominations, and front-man Corey Taylor hosting the event, Slipknot certainly had the wind in their sails! The Des Moines 9-piece, picked up 2 of the most prestigious awards of the night. Namely Best International Band and Best Live Band. They were very humble about their win ofthe 2 hotly contested awards, with Taylor remarking, "Thats 2 more than I thought we'd get!"

Metallica also achieved a fantastic win! The veteran metallers picked up the Best Album award for Death Magnetic. Their 9th album has been acclaimed beyond belief, and being the first studio album to feature Bassist Robert Trujillo and working with Producer Rick Rubin, the band seem to be back to their very best! It was not a huge surprise that they beat the likes of Green Day, Placebo, Gallows and the successful Slipknot to pick up this gong. The album debuted at Number 1 in the Billboard 200 chart upon its release in Sept last year. This feat alone propelled Metallica into the record books, as the first act to debut at the top spot, FIVE consecutive times! It was also hailed as the Best Album of the year by Kerrang - and was even said to have been worth a 10 K review for the mag!

Well done guys!

It was also good news for Bullet For My Valentine who scooped up the Best British Band Award, (see: Extreme Metal Rhythm Techniques). The Welsh 4-Piece have been going from strength to strength over the past 4 years, and the fact that they have now won this award 2 years on the spin is a great victory for them.

Other winners on the night included Machine Head (Inspiration Award) Alice In Chains (Icon Award) and Limp Bizkit
