Pearl Jam Introduce 3 Songs From New Album - And Jam With Ronnie Wood!
Thu, 13 Aug 2009
Pearl Jam stunned an audience of 2000 lucky fans, as Ronnie Wood joined them on stage to perform the classic "All Along the Watchtower," and introduced the crowd to 3 forthcoming songs from their new album - "Backspacer"
Wood was invited to the stage by frontman Eddie Vedder as they marked a return to the UK before they embark on a small European tour. The performance of Bob Dylan's 1967 classic was more in Jimi Hedrix's style of the song. Hendrix has undoubtedly laid down the most popular version of the track, which has been covered by over 42 popular acts over its 42 year life-span! See footage of the performance below...
And the treats for the audience did not stop there! Breaking out the new along with the old, Pearl Jam also gave the audience a live version of their forthcoming single "The Fixer" which is on general release from August 24th. They continued to play "Got Some" off of the forthcoming album, to a great response from the crowd.
Vedder's encore appearance then saw him play an acoustic version of "The End" - the final track from Backspacer, the follow up record to their self-titled 2006 release.
BackSpacer, the 9th Pearl Jam Album, is available from September 20th in The US, and September 21st Worldwide
