Oasis pull out of headline slot at V

Tue, 25 Aug 2009

Oasis sensationally pulled out of their headline slot at V in Chelmsford on Sunday, due to Liam Gallagher suffering from viral laryngitis. Snow Patrol filled in, on a festival which did not seem to live up to its hype.

Boos echoed around the Essex venue on Sunday, and T-Shirts degrading Oasis were printed at the last minute, to a sell-out reception from disgruntled festival-goers.

It was rumoured on Saturday, that just hours before the show was due to begin, tickets to the festival were changing hands for as little as £40. The weather was one thing that didn’t let the fans down however, as temperatures soared at both legs of the 2-day extravaganza.

Snow Patrol honoured Oasis through their cover-performances of Wonderwall, and Champagne Supernova. A spokesman for the billed headline act said of Liam’s condition, “Liam is resting up and should be fine to resume the tour next Friday in Paris.”

This news has certainly not gone unnoticed by fans of Oasis, worried over the turbulent relationship between brothers Liam and Noel. As LickLibrary stated on Fiday, the brothers’ relationship had hit an all time low, with Liam telling the NME: “For the first time in my life I haven’t got a f**king clue what’s going on with Oasis.”

The V weekend was not a total loss however. Essex and Staffordshire were both rocked by acts such as The Killers,, Biffy Clyro, Ocean Colour Scene, Razorlight and Elbow, and with Reading just days away, the furore surrounding V will soon be a distant memory.Related Material:Learn to Play Oasis
