Radiohead's Thom Yorke releases solo 12"

Mon, 21 Sep 2009

With all the confusion surrounding Radiohead’s future (and present), Thom Yorke has now released his solo 12", Feeling Pulled Apart by Horses / The Hollow Earth.  As of today (Sep 21st), fans of the Radiohead frontman have the opportunity to check out the songs on line.

The release comes ahead of Thom Yorke’s live web-performance of Reckoner at the launch of new documentary film The Age of Stupid tonight. Reckoner was apparently spawned from “Feeling Pulled Apart by Horses” which has been in the works since 2001! The new Thon Yorke release is somewhat of a strange epic with break-beats and a synth bass-line between Yorke's mysterious vocals. before a 2 minute synth-jam outro.  It was this coda that was eventually morphed into Reckoner.

Yorke will be performing at the launch of Franny Armstong’s new film The Age of Stupid, which is an amalgam of drama, documentary and animation, focussing on the affect of climate change, and civilisation’s ignorance towards it. The Age of Stupid is set in the year 2055 when Pete Postlethwaite is the sole remaining member of the human race, re-examining footage from 2008, and posing the question, “why did humankind do nothing to stop climate change when it had the chance.”

Seldom veering far from the controversial, Thom Yorke is joined by a host of other celebrities in endorsing the film, and will be performing Reckoner from an as yet undisclosed location, live. Taken from 2007’s In Rainbows album, Reckoner had previously been dubbed Feeling Pulled Apart by Horses, after a lyric in the song.

Feeling Pulled Apart by Horses/The Hollow Earth is available on 12” now, and will be made available to download from Oct 6th.
