Chickenfoot debut to get re-release
Thu, 24 Sep 2009
It has been announced that the debut album by Chickenfoot is set for a deluxe re-issue throughout the UK next month.
Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony (both of Van Halen fame) Joe Satriani and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) banded together early in 2008 to create supergroup Chickenfoot. Although Hagar has publicly denounced this status, saying “We’re not a supergroup, we like hanging out together and the music is a bonus” Chickenfoot’s popularity has continued to grow, and now fans (in the UK at least) will have the opportunity to get their hands on the new deluxe-edition of their self-titled debut album.
The album itself is only a few months old. Originally released in June 2009, "Chickenfoot" went Gold in the US only two weeks ago. With only 3 dates remaining at the end of their world tour, the band have been receiving acclaim from across the globe. Their album debuted at respectable chart positions in countries as far-afield as Japan and Germany, and their live tour has received much praise from the critics.
"Chickenfoot" - deluxe edition, will be made available in the UK from Oct 26. It will include a live DVD of performances from their current world tour, as well as official music videos for “Soap on a Rope” and “Oh Yeah” along with backstage interviews.
LickLibrary recently reported on Joe Satriani’s legal wrangling with Coldplay over the song “Viva La Vida.” The matter was eventually settled out of court. In addition, LickLibrary also told of how Chad Smith had been talking about his solo work on the “Meet the Meatbats” album released earlier this year, ahead of the Chili’s forthcoming recording project. LickLibrary also reported on the prospect of a Van Halen tour in 2010 featuring David Lee Roth.
With so many irons in the fire, one might wonder where Chickenfoot find the time to keep their fans happy, however it would seem they are intent on doing just that. Their second single “Soap on a Rope” is set for release in November. It will be a double A-side, including “My Kinda Girl.”
There have so far been no further dates added to their tour.
