AC/DC become the latest act to suffer with sickness - six dates cancelled
Mon, 28 Sep 2009
After having to cancel their Antwerp gig in March, AC/DC have now had to reschedule a number of dates on the fifth leg of their Black Ice world tour, due to Brian Johnson undergoing a medical procedure.
LickLibrary can confirm that Brian Johnson has been told by doctors that he must rest after an unspecified medical procedure. This means that AC/DC have been forced to postpone a total of six upcoming dates in the US. Although there has been little information given out as to the nature of the procedure, it has been speculated that Johnson has had throat surgery.
AC/DC previously had to cancel their March 3rd show in Antwerp, Belgium, which was later explained as being due to Brian Johnson suffering with flu. The gig was not rescheduled, and fans had to make do with a refund. The band’s last performance took place September 8th, when the Aussie rockers played Anaheim, CA.
The six cancelled dates are to be rescheduled, and AC/DC will pick up the tour on October 16th Washington DC. The cancelled show were due to take place between October 1st, and October 14, when the group were to perform in Phoenix AZ, Las Vegas NV, Louisville KY, Kansas City MO, Des Moines IA, and Milwaukee WI.
The tour has been running for nearly a year, kicking off last October (2008) in Pennsylvania. Since that time the Aussie rock veterans have been all around the US and Europe, and are due to finish up in Australia on March 8th, 2010.
AC/DC recently informed fans that they were going to make a “special announcement” tomorrow (Sep 29th) which has led to much conjecture. As LickLibrary previously reported, it has been rumoured that their forthcoming boxed-set release will be contained within a working amplifier!
The news comes after a string of rock acts have had complaints leading to cancelations and hospitalisation. These have included Tommy Lee of Motley Crue, Zakk Wylde, Steve Tyler of Aerosmith and Slipknot’s drummer Joey Jordison.
As always, LickLibrary will keep you informed on any developments.
