Radiohead's Thom Yorke, Chili Peppers' Flea, and former REM drummer Joey Waronker form new band

The supergroups just keep on coming! Thom Yorke has now announced that he will join Flea, and former drummer with REM, Joey Waronker in a new band - which still has no name! The new supergroup have announced they will make their live debut at Orpheum Theatre Los Angeles CA on October 4th playing their second show at the venue the next day.

LickLibrary has had much to report from Radiohead recently. First we had the announcement that Radiohead would release no more albums, before a number of leaked songs were made available over the internet, and Thom Yorke released an array of solo material.

Yorke posted a message dated today (Tuesday 29th Sept) on the Radiohead Dead Air Space page. It reads:

“hi
in the past couple of weeks i've been getting a band together for fun to play the eraser stuff live and the new songs etc.. to see if it could work! here's a photo.. its me, joey waronker, mauro refosco, flea and nigel godrich.
at the beginning of october the 4th and 5th we are going to do a couple of shows at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles.
we don't really have a name and the set will not be very long cuz ..well ...we haven't got that much material yet!
but come and check it out if you are in the area. we've also got locals Lucky Dragons playing.

LickLibrary recently reported that Red Hot Chili Peppers would be returning to the studio to work on their new album in October. Chad Smith had revealed that The Chili’s had not been working together since the Stadium Arcadium tour ended almost two years ago. The news came just before LickLibrary announced that RHCP would be nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. This has been considered a huge achievement for the Chili’s as they are only just eligible for nomination after hitting their 25th year.

Joey Waronker filled in on drums for REM after founding member Bill Berry sensationally quit the group in 1997. The drummer appeared on two of their albums, “Up” and “Reveal”, and performed with Yorke at 1998’s Tibetan Freedom Concert. REM were joined by the Radiohead frontman for a performance of “Be Mine”.

Nigel Godrich has been known as Radiohead’s sixth member, due to his collaborative relationship with the band. Having worked as their producer since 1994, Godrich is credited with co-creating Radiohead’s distinctive sound during the 1990’s up to this day.

Mauro Refosco is a Brazilian musician, best known for his work with Forro in the Dark, a New York-based group which combines  traditional Brazilian music with more contemporary styles.

As of yet no songs have been leaked! However LickLibrary will keep you updated as to any developments with this – as yet unnamed – new supergroup!
