Drummer Chad Smith says plans are to release the album ‘sometime next year’ but the band have reportedly said the follow up to 2006’s ‘Stadium Arcadium’ album could be released by October 2010.
After a two year hiatus the band are keen to get back into the studio and feel ready to get started on the new album, the drummer has said about the return, “That’s the plan (to return then), “he told Billboard this past summer. “It’ll be two years in September, so now we’re ready. You can’t force people to play when they don’t want to or aren’t ready to play or whatever- not in our band, anyway.”
During the band’s hiatus bassist Flea has collaborated with Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Chad Smith spent time working with Chickenfoot and recorded his own solo album which guitarist Josh Frusciante also worked on solo projects.
