John Frusciante quits Red Hot Chili Peppers...over a year ago!
Mon, 21 Dec 2009
At the end of last week Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante confirmed he'd actually quit the band over a year ago.
The guitarist first left the band in 1992, ended up as a homeless heroin addict who lost all his teeth before rejoining the band five years later. He now claims on his website that his "musical interests have led me in a different direction."
He's also said in his statement that he ws proud of his work with the RHCP but continuing to work in that musical vein would go against his nature.
"There was no choice involved in this decision. I simply have to be what I am, and have to do what I must do." he says.
He confirms that when he quit the band there was no drama or anger and the rest of the band were very understanding and supportive.
We hope the best for John for the future. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are currently in the studio working on the next album, so far there has been no mention of a replacement guitarist.
