John Lennon's Hollywood Star stolen?

According to reports John Lennon's Hollywood Walk of Fame star has been removed from the ground and possibly stolen.

The star, which was laid and dedicated  in September 1988 at 1750 Vine Street is now currently covered up by a plastic bag and tape according to LAist.com. They also reported that apparently the only person at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce who manage and maintain the Walk Of Fame is away until January 4th.

Another rumour is that the star was removed in preparation of the area for the addition of fellow Beatle Ringo Starr's star who is one of 28 celebrities who will be honoured in 2010.
