Joe Bonamassa Live at Marshall Class 5 Launch
Mon, 03 Aug 2009
Joe Bonamassa is one of the leading lights in today's modern blues scene, and licklibrary found among the lucky few who were invited to Ronnie Scott's this week to watch a superb afternoon performance by this guitar maestro to celebrate the launch of the Marshall Class 5 amp.
The new amp is a class A, five watt, all valve combo using two ECC83s in the preamp and one EL84 in the power stage. It has a single custom built Celestion speaker and is designed for rehearsals and small gigs.
Bonamassa's scorching set included favourites like 'So Many Roads' and 'Bridge To Better Days' as he put the new amp through its paces
To strictly label Bonamassa a pure blues player would be misleading as his playing expands into rock territory and an overall heavier, bigger sound with a bit of a Led Zeppelin vibe. With this in mind, blues fans fear not - Bonamassa's roots are, as always, firmly planted in the blues. He is, without a doubt, one of the most accomplished blues-rock guitarists of his generation.
