Tommy Lee of Motley Crue replaced for Crue-Fest dates due to Injury
Wed, 19 Aug 2009
Motley Crue Drummer Tommy Lee has been replaced by the Band for upcoming Crue Fest 2 shows! Following the revelation of Steve Tyler's on-stage accident earlier this month, Motley Crue have not decided to postpone any dates, and have instead enlisted the help of Morgan Rose, Drummer with Sevendust.
The injury was apparently sustained to Lee as he was “playing with sparklers.” He told the crowd at Clarkston, Michigan’s DTE Energy Theatre, “I Suck! I was having fun and burned myself.”
Lee will however continue to “perform” with the band as a hype-man, and according to Nikki Sixx will be “jumping around and helping out with vocals!” Sixx went on to write on his MySpace page that the decision was made “… following doctor’s orders” and that Tommy Lee would have to “sit out a couple of shows, But we hope to have him back ASAP”.
While there is still no official word on when Motley Crue’s drummer will return to full health, it is understood that he has been playing piano during encores, performing “Home Sweet Home,” as well as banging a drum with his full-strength right hand, along to “Girls, Girls Girls.”
With only 12 dates left on the Crue Fest 2 tour, it may be a while before concert-goers get to see Tommy Lee in action behind the kit again.
