Zakk Wylde update

As LickLibrary reported on Aug 25th, Zakk Wylde’s health has recently taken a worrying turn. Taken to hospital after a Black Label Society show in Montana, USA, the versatile and celebrated  frontman / guitarist had suffered blood clots, for which he was receiving treatment.

Despite his Twitter posts sounding very upbeat and confident (Zakk intimated a South American tour in December,) it seems now that he is suffering multiple clots, and is in hospital every 48hrs

The Following is Zakk’s own words posted to his Twitter account on Aug 26th:

To all our Black Label family worldwide, thanks for all the 'get-wells. Every 48 hours [I have to get myself to] the [hospital] ER [emergency room] to check my blood. Had a CT scan [a painless, sophisticated x-ray procedure which obtains images of parts of the body that cannot be seen on a standard x-ray — Ed.] today and have blood clots in each of my lungs as well as my leg. [I] can't sing because pushing can cause an embolism."

More recently, Zakk explained in a message to Chris Cornell (Soundgarden / Audioslave etc) that while on the road he thought he had torn a calf muscle. Then at hospital an ultrasound revealed blood clots behind his left knee, which then moved to his thigh, and in both lungs.
Zakk Wylde is still sounding relaxed and comfortable as ever while he soldiers through it, and we will bring you updates as often as possible as to his condition. 

Zakk Wylde has seldom been out of the news recently, due to the furore surrounding his relationship with Ozzy Osbourne. Zakk had made comments recently about the uncertainty of his future in playing with Ozzy, and bloggers have been speculating like mad as to who the new guitarist for Ozzy’s band could be.  As one LickLibrary regular wrote on our forum:  “rumour is Zakk’s been replaced by Ozzy . for some young player called gus g . so this aint gonna help his blood pressure neither.”

Zakk himself had recently spoken out about the situation telling KFLY Radio, Oregon, that Ozzy had not spoken to him directly, since comments had appeared in Rolling Stone magazine indicating Osbourne’s interest in Rob Zombie guitarist, John 5 for Zakk’s job. 

Zakk said: “I mean, it’s like, dude, you don’t wanna play with me anymore? Fine. Play with whoever the hell you wanna play with. I couldn’t give a rat’s ass. Like I’m gonna get all jealous or whatever.”
