Van Halen set for 2010 tour
Thu, 10 Sep 2009
It was disclosed to an unlikely audience that Van Halen will be going on tour next year. The 2009 Bank of America, Merrill Lynch Media, Communications and Entertainment Conference at Marina del Rey, CA, USA, were told by CEO of Ticketmaster, Irving Azoff, that the band will be touring in 2010, although no regions were discussed.
Apparently, the news slipped out after things got a little confused, and no more information is available at this time. Although Van Halen’s own website have no dates or information of a forthcoming tour, British fans are hoping that they will make a long-awaited, if somewhat unlikely, return to the UK’s shores., as well as performing across their American homeland.
Van Halen last embarked on tour in 2007 which was extended until March 2008. This was the tour that saw them reunited with David Lee Roth after 22 years of separation, save for a one-off performance in 1996 at the MTV Music Awards.
Recently it was reported that Eddie Van Halen had to undergo surgery on his hand, meaning that their next album was to be delayed until the Summer of 2010. This would imply a promotional tour of around the same time, and judging by the source of the 2010 tour rumour, Van Halen, along with Roth could be coming to a town near you in the very near future. I would take the word of Ticketmaster’s CEO seriously, however nothing is conclusive in the world of Rock n Roll. We will keep you informed...
