Aerosmith set to make live comeback after Steve Tyler's injury
Tue, 22 Sep 2009
As LickLibrary reported back in early August, Steve Tyler had fallen from the stage during a performance of Love in an Elevator in South Dakota. Now after Joe Perry vented his frustration at the singer's ill health, it would appear that the Aerosmith frontman is back to form, as the Boston band gear up for two shows in Hawaii.
The furore surrounding Steve Tyler’s injury over the past month or two, has been quite, well… staggering. With rumours of Steve Tyler falling off the wagon before falling off the stage, he was forced to make a public statement saying that photographs of him purchasing alcohol were defensible, as we was attending a wake for a friend.
Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry made no secret of his apparent frustration with Tyler, publicly saying: “I haven’t talked to him in over five weeks. I don’t know what’s going on with him.” It was not long after this that rumours of a hiatus were rife amongst bloggers, and with the forcoming release of Perry’s solo album, he was bound for the road alone.
Now, almost eight weeks to the day that Steven Tyler “walked that way” from the stage, resulting in twenty stitches to the head, a broken left shoulder, and a very strange “my Dad’s not dead” blog post from Tyler’s daughter Mia, the Aerosmith singer is back! Here is how he sustained his injury, courtesy of the Associated Press.
Having previously been sued over not performing two dates n Hawaii back in 2007, next month Aerosmith will return to the stage. Tom Moffatt, promoter for the group, announced late yesterday that two dates are booked for Oct 18th and Oct 20th at the Blaisdell Arena, and Maui War Memorial Stadium respectively. That is assuming no more ailments or wounds befall the injury stricken group.
As LickLibrary previously reported, Aerosmith had to delay recording numerous times over a period of years due to illness and injury. This included Steve Tyler requiring throat surgery, Tom Hamilton being treated for throat cancer, Joe Perry undergoing knee surgery, and Brad Whitford requiring surgery after hitting his head.
LickLibrary will keep our fingers crossed for Aerosmith, who we hope can continue to epitomise the phrase, “whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” As yet there is still no word on Aerosmith rescheduling the gigs they have missed over the past 8 weeks.
