Red Hot Chili Peppers and Kiss top nominees for induction into 2010 Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame
Thu, 24 Sep 2009
LickLibrary are happy to announce that Red Hot Chili Peppers and Kiss have topped the ballot for 2010’s Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame.
The prestigious award is now 25 years old, and to celebrate, will be holding two concerts at Madison Square Gardens, New York. Included on the bill for the esteemed event, are former inductees as far ranging as Stevie Wonder and Metallica – who were inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. Sharing the praise among the inductees for 2009 was guitar legend Jeff Beck, who recently gave an intimate masterclass that LickLibrary were lucky enough to attend.
It is now the time to look to next year’s nominees however, and Red Hot Chili Peppers are a great favourite - despite the fact they are only in their first year of eligibility. It is a stringent requirement that acts must have 25 years under their belt from the release of their first record. Some would be surprised that The Chili’s self-titled debut album was released as long ago as 1984. However to be nominated at the earliest opportunity must certainly be an honour for Kiedis, Flea, Smith and Frusciante.
Kiss on the other hand are steeped in Rock history. Originally forming in New York, 1972, they have remained a unique and integral part of classic 70's Rock music. Last year, Gene Simmons vented his annoyance at Kiss having never been nominated by saying; “There are disco bands, rap bands, Yiddish folk bands in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame, but not Kiss!”

Kiss and the Chilis will be in competition with a diverse group of recording artists. The Stooges, Abba, The Chantels, The Hollies, Jimmy Cliff, Genesis, LL Cool J and Donna Summer will all be vying for a place in the Hall of Fame next year…
The spectacular Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary concerts are taking place Oct 29th and Oct 30th at Madison Square Gardens, New York. Acts are to include previous inductees into the Hall of Fame: Eric Clapton, Metallica, Bruce Springsteen, Simon and Garfunkel, and U2.
