John Frusciante crowned Modern Day guitar hero

Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante was named the best guitarist of the last 30 years in a BBC 6 Music Axe factor poll last week.

John Frusciante, who at the end of 2009 confirmed he ha quit the band in 2008, was voted number 1 by the BBC 6 Music listeners above, guitar legend Slash, Metallica's Kirk Hammett, Muse's Matt Bellamy, Johnny Marr of the Smiths, Prince, Jack White, Radiohead's Johnny Greenwood, REM's Peter Buck.

Over 30,000 people voted for their modern guitar hero from a list of 40 guitarists!
