Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez join American Idol judge line up

Last week American Idol made the, 'not so surprise' announcement that Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, would be joining the judges panel along with Jennifer Lopez.

The 10th series of the American Idol show sees the departure of Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres to make room for the two new judges.  Simon Cowell will be busy working on launching the new US version of The X Factor.

"We're looking for the next Michael Jackson," Jennifer Lopez told the audience at the press conference.

Before Steven Tyler added, "I looked upon it as a great opportunity and then when I found out who was on board I threw down right away." He added that he wanted to "bring some rock to this rollercoaster".

The TV show is the most watched programme in the US and expected to return to TV in January 2011.
