This image has been reduced in size - click here to view full sizeToday at America's biggest music trade event of the year, The Winter NAMM show 2010, Slash and Paul Marshall from Marshall Amps announced the new AFD100 amp.

Marshall have uploaded the video to YouTube, and you can check it out their videos
here on their official YouTube.

Marshall Amplification have set up a dedicated website for the AFD100 for Marshall fans to keep up with the progress and how it was made!

Posted today on the website's blog they announced:

"Well it's official, Marshall Amplification are teaming up with guitar legend Slash to start work on a very special amplifier project.

What's it all about?
In the second half of the eighties, an album was released which arguably redefined rock music, no, not arguably, it did redefine rock music! The raw, uncompromising, in-your-face, raucous, guitar playing set the bar for the next generation of guitar heroes. The album of course was Appetite for Destruction by Guns 'n' Roses.

Some of you will know that the amplifier used to record this album was a JCM 800 2203. this particular amplifier has its own story which has gone down in music folklore. It had been rented and had been subject to a modification. Slash really liked this amp when he had it, and 'forgot' to give it back. In fact the rental company stole that amplifier out of the studio Slash was using some time later.

This particular amplifier has since disappeared only to be talked about in hushed voices, and some mystery has since surrounded the amplifier which produced the exquisite tones that became synonymous with one of the greatest albums, and the greatest guitarist, of all times, and seemed lost forever.

So we are pleased to announce that Marshall and Slash are joining forces to recreate the revered 'appetite tone' in a new amplifier - The AFD100.

But this is such an exciting opportunity for all of us, we decided we could not keep it quiet until it was ready for launching, and we simply had to tell you about it.

For the very first time you will be able to follow the progress of the amplifier. From the concept, to the initial work by the designer, to drawing up the circuits, to Slash trying it and testing it. All the way through to what will hopefully be a summer launch this year.

This website is dedicated to all things AFD100, keeping you up to date with the progress of the amp. We will be uploading video content, blog entries, and news on a regular basis as well as interviews with the design engineers, the skilled workmen and women in the factory, and of course Slash himself.

Thanks for reading and keep checking back for the latest on this unique collaboration."

Stay tuned for more information soon on Slash's solo album, due for release April 6th 2010.
