Former Guns N Roses manager says the band doesn't exist anymore

This image has been reduced in size - click here to view full sizeAlan Niven was responsible for putting Guns N Roses on the map, he was their manager, producer, songer writer and friend. In a recent interview with Bravewords.com he revealed a list of 3 things he believes Axl Rose has done wrong since firing him as the bands manager.

He also expressed his feelings that the current GnR is "an insult" to the band who recorded the hit album 'Appetite For Destruction'.

When Axl Rose fired Alan Niven he took over management of his band and the first mistake he made was to force the members to sign their name rights over to him. He then explains that the next mistake was to work with manager Irving Azoff who had been planning a 'reunion' that no one had agreed to.

"Irving wanted to get it out of the way because he wanted a reunion. I doubt he was motivated to see it successful – he essentially got paid for its release, not its performance. The release was done purely for financial reasons. I don’t think Irving ever understood the unlikelihood of that reunion taking place; of how deep feelings run." he explained before saying the third mistake was to let Chinese Democracy leak online and kept them under lock and key.

"Guns N' Roses doesn’t exist as far as I’m concerned" he says when asked why the band's current format gets so much bad press, "Guns N' Roses as far as I’m concerned played their last show on April 7th 1990 in Indianapolis which was the last show live show at Farm Aid that the original line-up played. That’s my personal and particular viewpoint."

He also expresses his views on the current line up's 'replacements' are look-a-likes for the original line up before going on to state "Axl has every right as an individual to perform whatever music he wishes with whomever he wishes. That is a right that is absolutely unquestioned, but what I cannot digest is that he states that he is Guns N' Roses because on his own – he is not."
