John Lennon monument unveiled in Liverpool

Tue, 12 Oct 2010

A statue has been unveiled in Liverpool last weekend as a tribute to John Lennon on what would have been his 70th birthday by his first wife Cynthia and son Julian.

The statue is a globe with doves flying above it and is designed to be a shrine for the fans paying tribute to The Beatles home city and a monument for peace. (see photo left)

John Lennon's son Julian said at the unveiling, "We come here with our hearts to honour dad and pray for peace and say thank you to each and every one of you and everybody involved in the celebrations today,"

The monument is located in Chavasse Park and created by American artist Lauren Voiers, commissioned by the Global Peace Initiative and is named 'Peace and Harmony'.
