The band had been with EMI for almost 40 years, however Queen's new deal with Universal will cover the world outside of North America and will appear on Island Records from January 1st 2011 (previous releases were with Hollywood Records).

"We are very excited, after all this time, to be embarking on a new phase of our career -- with a new record company, with new ideas, and new dreams," Brian May said in a recent interview.

Queen will celebrate it's 40th anniversary next year and Island Records are preparing remasters of the groups back catalogue due for 2011 release.
