Former Sex Pistols manager dies at age 64
Thu, 08 Apr 2010
This morning former Sex Pistols manager Malcolm Mclaren passed away at the age of 64.
In 1971, Malcolm McLaren and designer Vivienne Westwood opened a clothing shop on the famous London's Kings Road called Let It Rock. Their son would go on to co-found the lingerie brand Agent Provocateur.
In 1976 Malcolm started to manage the band The Strand (who were later renamed as the Sex Pistols as he wanted them to sound like 'Sexy Young Assasins').
When the band released "God Save The Queen" in 1977 during the week of Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee, McLaren famously organised a boat trip along the River Thames where the band would perform their music outside the Houses Of Parliament. The boat was raided by police and he was arrested, this achieved his goal of getting the band publicity.
In March 1977 signed with A&M Records at a press ceremony held outside Buckingham Palace (Pictured above with Malcolm McLaren).
Tributes have been filling the news and the internet since the news broke of the passing of the impressario.
Rest in peace Malcolm McLaren.
