Slash talks about the future of Velvet Revolver

Fri, 04 Jun 2010

This image has been reduced in size - click here to view full sizeSlash has confirmed that Velvet Revolver are definitely not over despite his solo album and tour, Duff McKagan joining Jane's Addiction and the band still without a lead vocalist.

The guitarist recently told MTV News, "I've been doing this record, and there's a tour and Duff's been playing with Jane's Addiction, so everybody has been pretty busy, but at some point early next year, we're going to reconvene and take a good serious look at everything that we've got."When the bands singer Scott Weiland returned to his band STP (Stone Temple Pilots), many considered Velvet Revolver over, but Slash says they're far from over and have alot of new material awaiting to be unleashed to their fans.

"As soon as we got off the road from the last tour and parted ways with Scott, we got together and wrote half a dozen really great, sort of heavy metal pieces of music," Slash told MTV. "It's a lot heavier than what Velvet Revolver has put out, so I'm dying to put out the quintessential Velvet Revolver record."Even with the arsenal of new material the band still has a vacancy for a frontman, but Slash is confident they can find the right singer to fit the bill without anyone making any compromises.  They want someone that can front the band not have the band 'conform to' something else.

Next week Slash & Stone Temple Pilots will both play seperate sets on the main stage at Download Festival in the UK, should be one hell of a day!
