Roger Waters gives permission to rewrite a Pink Floyd hit for an Iranian Anthem

This image has been reduced in size - click here to view full sizePink Floyd's Roger Waters has given permission to a band in Canada fronted by two Iranian brothers to rework the lyrics of Pink Floyd's classic hit "Another Brick In The Wall"

The Toronto-based band called 'Blurred Vision'' has reworked the lyrics to express the feelings of resentment of the young people against the Iranian government where it is illegal for them to play rock music.  One of the famous lines was changed to say, "Hey, Ayatollah, leave those kids alone!"The exhiled brothers from Iran are known as Sepp & Sohl and do not make their surname public for fear of the safety of their remaining family in Iran are hoping the song will show solidarity for those Iranian's fighting for freedom.  The video includes footage from the 2009 Iranian presidential election which many people felt the footage had been altered with for TV by the government.  The video has been viewed by over 250,000 people on YouTube.  Which no doubt will rise with the news of Roger Waters' support.  You can watch it here

Roger Water's said in a statement that he sees the band as playing a vital part in "the resistance to a regime that is both repressive and brutal."Roger Waters will begin his tour of "The Wall" album in Toronto on September 15th.
