Guns N Roses have been given warning about turning up late at this weekend Reading & Leeds festivals
Wed, 25 Aug 2010
Reading & Leeds Festivals boss Melvin Benn has warned Axl Rose and Guns N Roses they are not to be late on stage this weekend otherwise he'll pull the plug on them.
"If Guns N' Roses decide to take to stage as late as they did in Leeds some years ago then the performance just won't happen," Melvin Benn told the BBC.
When the band played the festivals back in 2002 they arrived over 2 hours late for their set at Leeds Festival causing problems due to the local councils' curfew. This year Reading & Leeds councils have issued a "very heavy warning" to the Festival organisers as they got away with the 2002 incident, but they won't be able to for a second time.
"The truth is - it's threatening the viability of the festival. It threatens the licence. It really is quite important." he continues.
Despite the rumours fueled by Axl Rose's 'hacked' twitter account announcing all GNR shows were cancelled, the Festival had to step in and confirm that the band had not cancelled any gigs and would still be appearing at the events this coming weekend.
Guns N Roses will headline Friday night at Reading, and Sunday night at Leeds Festival.
What will happen now after the Festivals threats to Axl.... we'll have to wait and see.
