Guns N Roses fans in Dublin will not being receiving refunds
Tue, 14 Sep 2010
Despite many of the fans at the Dublin Guns N Roses show reportedly being told the show was over by venue staff a couple of weeks ago and were led to believe that would refunds would be given, it appears that the fans have been left disappointed.
On September 1st the band arrived over an hour and 20 minutes late on stage for their show at the O2 Arena in Dublin to a crowd of boo's and water bottles thrown at them. After 20 minutes into the set the band left the stage after warning the crowd if one more bottle was thrown they would be 'going home', when another bottle hit a member of the band they left the stage at approximately 10.50pm.
Fans reported that the house lights came on and they were told by venue staff the show was over and they should leave. But at 11.20 the band returned to finish their set, and many fans were left outside the venue and not allowed back in to the show.
Denis Desmond from promoter MCD has issued the following statement regarding the fans trying to get their refunds. "Despite Axl’s continued appeals, having tried to continue performing for 22 minutes, people continued throwing unknown substances leaving the artist with no choice but to leave the stage.
While the artist has a long history for being late on stage, no artist should be subjected to missiles and unknown substances being thrown at them.
Once people stopped throwing items, Guns N’ Roses returned on stage and performed their full set list of songs, so the issue of refunds does not arise."
