Thu, 24 Feb 2011
Although some may not be surprised as it has been speculated ever since they were forced to cancel their appearance at 2010's Glastonbury due to frontman Bono's back unjury, last night however U2 confirmed their 2011 appearance at Glastonbury this summer at the NME Awards via a video message from guitarist The Edge.
In the video message, The Edge confirmed the band wouldheadline on Friday 24th June 2011 at the famous Somerset event. "I have to say there is something really special and iconic about that stage," he said. "We're so excited to get to play in front of the world's greatest festival audience. We'll see you there!"
The announcement was played shortly after Glastonbury Festival won the Best Festival awards at the NME Awards ceremony in London.
Also confirmed as headliners for the festival are Beyonce & Coldplay.
