New Nirvana exhibition to include pieces of Kurt Cobain's smashed guitar

A new Nirvana exhibition in Seattle is set to open at the Experience Music ProjThis image has been reduced in size - click here to view full sizeect next month and will inlcude pieces of the first guitar Kurt Cobain smashed onstage.

Parts of the Univox Hi-Flyer guitar, with 200 band artifacts will be included in the 'Nirvana: Taking Punk To The Masses' exhibit.

Bassist Krist Novoselic spoke about the exhibition, and the guitar, "It’s great that there will soon be a collection that celebrates Kurt's contribution to music and culture." He then added, "There’s a story with Nirvana at its centre, but it’s a story that also includes the many people, bands and institutions that make up a music community"
The exhibits will also show recordings from those associated to the band, including Krist Novoselic, original durmmer Chad Channing and producers Steve Albini and Jack Endino.

Fans can also purcahse a 250 page book Taking Punk to The Masses: From Nowhere To Nevermind which will be published by Fantagraphics Books to be launched with the exhibition. 

A rare 'Hormoaning' EP by Nirvana will also be re-released for Record Store Day on vinyl, which will be April 16th.
