The Darkness are official back and set to play Download Festival

The rumours and speculation are true, The Darkness have officially been confirmed to play Download Festival this summer.

Appearing as 'Special Guests to Def Leppard' on opening night (Friday 10th June), The Darkness will take the stage before the headliners at the iconic Donnington Festival.

"The idea of playing Download terrifies us," frontman Justin Hawkins said in the official announcement.  "We played in an early slot on the main stage in 2003 and we were frightened then. It's reassuring to know that nothing has changed.  On a serious note it's the most rockest of festivals and the perfect place for us to begin the next phase of our journey."
