In 2000, Lars Ulrich and his band mates launched legal action against Napster
, which was the first major playing in the digital music market (see picture right).
The case was settled out of court which ended in 300,000 people being banned from using the website which the Metallica drummer
admitted was a badly-advised situation that he wishes he'd dealt with differently.
Warner Music Group then continued the battle which resulted in Napster being shut down in 2002.
Sean Parker, now a billionaire who founded Napster, went on to become part of the team that made Facebook successful has put a bid in to buy Warner Music Group.
It is said that the 31 year old who is also an advisor to Spotify, who have failed to reach a deal with WMG for their music catalogue, is in talks with investors Ron Burkle and Doug Teitelbaum about becoming part of the consortium deal.
