Sunset Strip Music Festival to honour Motley Crue

Last year the Sunset Strip Music Festival in West Hollywood honoured Slash declaring Au
gust 26th "Slash Day", this August the event will be honouring another act who started their career in West Hollywood's famous sunset strip music venues, Mötley Crüe.
At an award ceremony on 18th August, the festival will celebrate the bands influence on the music boulevard which will kickstart the three day festival.
The band famous got their start on the strip performing at Whisky A Go-Go and the Roxy Theatre, filming their hit "Kickstart My Heart" video at the Whisky. Anyone that's read the bands autobiograpy "The Dirt" will know their infamous antics as they built up their career from the streets of West Hollywood.
"It’s an honor to be recognized by the Sunset Strip Music Festival,” said drummer Tommy Lee. “It means a lot to us that we are recognized for our contribution to this historic place."
"Bursting onto the scene in the early ’80s with a sound and style that blended punk, glam and heavy metal, Mötley Crüe helped re-establish The Sunset Strip as one of the top music destinations in the world,” said the SSMF Executive Director Todd Steadman in the official announcement, before adding “The band has forever left their mark on the music industry and The Sunset Strip, and we’re looking forward to celebrating their influence and bringing their spirited energy to this year’s tribute event.”
