The Beatles' first ever record contract to be auctioned

The Independent newspaper reported over the weekend that a previously unseen doThis image has been reduced in size - click here to view full sizecument from The Beatles history will be auctioned off for an expected £50,000 at London's Theater Royal.

The document featuring the signatures of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Pete Best was signed on June 19th 1961 and is the band's first Recording and Publishing contract that was signed in Hamburg, Germany. The document was discovered in Switzerland at the Fame Bureau earlier this month.  Pete Best was later replaced as drummer by Ringo Starr in 1962.

"The most important thing about this contract is that we didn't know it existed. It's gold dust." says Ted Owen of the Fame Bureau.
