New songs have 'Quite A Lot Of Diversity' says Rush frontman

Mon, 18 Apr 2011

Rush frontman, Geddy Lee, recently revealed to The Plain Dealer that the bands 20th studio album is well on its way in terms of song-writing and they already have 7 songs penned and he believes show a heavier side to the band.

"We've got about seven songs written. When you hear the first two songs ('BU2B' and 'Caravan'), which we're playing live now, they definitely have a heavier sound. It's the heavier side of RUSH in the early going. But when I think of all the songs that we've written already, there's quite a lot of diversity there. I think — I hope — RUSH fans will like it. We're certainly going to work hard to make it a great record, as we always try." Says Geddy Lee.

On Friday night the band performed at The Q in Cleveland which they also filmed for a future live DVD to pay tribute to the city where the Canadian bands "American adventure began" in 1874 when a DJ, Donna Halper, added their "Working Man" track to the WMMMS FM 100.7 Radio station playlist.

"I don't think we would've had a record deal if it hadn't been for Donna Halper at WMMS playing 'Working Man' and some other songs from our first album," the singer explained in the interview.
