Sex Pistols single named most collectable

Thu, 21 Apr 2011

A rare Sex Pistol's single, The Rolling Stones self titled debut album and The Beatles 1963 'Please Please Me' LP have all made the top 5 of Record Collector Magazine's Top 50 most collectable vinyl records of all time.

But, it is Johnny Lydon's snarling punk upstarts that top the poll thanks to their rare recording of single "God Save The Queen" that was originally produced by A&M Records before they dropped The Pistols and destroyed most of the copies, so any existing versions are worth up to £8,000 today.

In the list, quoted by The Daily Telegraph, Record Collector comments, "The Sex Pistols have connected with and attract every new generation that has sprung up since 1977 and the reunion tours and those Rotten butter adverts have kept them in the public eye."
