Green Day play farewell show for American Idiot musical

Green Day's 'American Idiot' music closed on Broadway on Sunday night, with Billy Joe Armstrong (who returned to the cast for the last 3 weeks) playing the role of St Jimmy in the final show.

After the final night as a farewell, Green Day played a 10 song gig reports Rollingstone.com playing their popular hits with the show's cast dancing and drinking beer behind them, and even a couple of them stage diving into the crowd.

Despite performing the two final showings of the play, frontman Billy Joe still had his usual energy as the band rocked through their hour long set and kept the crowd engaged and called out, "Ladies and gentlemen, this isn't a fucking party – this is a fucking celebration!"
