Joe Perry quashes Aerosmith on American Idol claims
Thu, 19 May 2011
Throughout the season of American Idol, which Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is a judge, there has been a will they won't they about the performance a
nd appearance of his band on the show.
Recently Steven Tyler told Billboard.com that Aerosmith will be playing the last show of the season, "Oh, yeah, we're playing the last show of the season! It was always my intention, always, to get AEROSMITH on the show. I mean, Joe's done it. I'm ready for it. I would love to play with Aerosmith"
However, over the weekend (Sunday night)guitarist Joe Perry has quashed the claims that the band will make an appearance by pointing out that his fellow guitarist in the band Brad Whitford has a gig that night with the Hendrix Experience, and that the band were never asked by producers to play.
Speaking to his fans in a series of Q&A's on his Facebook Page he said "Not playing Idol cause we were never asked by producers. Brad has gig that night with Hendrix Exp. Its not logistically possible." but he did add that "Aersomith's looking forward to playing American Idol next season when our new CD is out and we can prepare 4 a kick ass show if they ask us."
He did go on to add that he was looking forward to recording the new album in July and August that he didn't have a problem with his frontman and it was all media driven "There is no peace pipe to smoke because I have no problem with anything Steven is doing. It's all media driven. In case ya didn't get that 1"
