Queens Of The Stone Age to record new album

Fri, 20 May 2011

Desert rock monsters Queens Of The Stone Age are heading back into the studio to begin work on a new album, which will be their first in over four years.

Since their 2007 effort 'Era Vulgaris' front-man Josh Homme has been working on a number of projects including recording the debut album for his hard rock super group Them Crooked Vultures, which features John Paul Jones of Led Zepellin on Bass and Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters back on drumming duties.

But after the recent reissuing of their self-titled debut as well as their second studio album 'Rated R', it would seem that Q.O.T.S.A are ready to start on their next project. Speaking to Radio 1 presenter Zane Lowe via onethrityBPM, singer Josh Homme explained:

"We’re going to take our one last break that we would get for a month, and come back (to the UK) and do Glastonbury, then immediately jump in the studio…"

"Our record will be done by the end of the year. We have enough songs. We’re at a weird moment where we really don’t feel like we have anything to prove. We just want to play to the people that are into us and we want to play right at them."

Queens Of The Stone Age are currently in the UK and are set to play Glasgow's O2 Academy tonight (20th May) and the Manchester Academy tomorrow (21st May)
