David Lee Roth to feature on new Van Halen record
Tue, 24 May 2011
Van Halen have reportedly been back in the studio and are working on new material with original lead vocalist David Lee Roth, according to ex G'n'R guitarist Slash who revealed the news whilst speaking with Tom Russell of U.K's Rock Radio, he said:
"They’re finishing [up their new album right now], actually. I don’t wanna speak on their behalf, but one of the guys that works for us works for Van Halen in the studio and he told me that they’re in the mixing stages."
It will be the first batch of new material with the singer in over 15 years. The last time Roth appeared on a Van Halen track was 1997 when he recorded two songs for a Van Halen Best of: Volume 1. But, the last time he featured on a full studio album was 13 years earlier on the bands fifth studio effort '1984'.
Roth, Eddie and Alex along with the bands newest addition Wolfgang reunited in 2007/08 for a 76-date tour of US & Canada, the tour grossed over $93 million and was the bands most profitable tour to date.
The new record is expected to be released before the end of the year and will be the band's first album since 2008's 'Van Halen III'.
