Mastodon update on new album, tour and ZZ Top cover

American sludge metal set Mastodon have been working hard in the studio recording the follow up to their 2009 concept album 'Crack The Skye'. The group have confirmed two new songs, 'Blasteroids' and 'All The Heavy Lifting' that will both be featured on their fifth studio effort, set to be released later this year, according to the bands website.
As well as the new album the Atlanta metallers have also announced tour plans as well the widespread release of their ZZ Top cover 'Just Got Paid', which will be included on the original soundtrack for 'Transformers: Dark Of The Moon'.
The record was previously only available as a limited edition 7" vinyl single released for Record Store Day 2011. The soundtrack will be released on June 14th, two weeks after the film's release and will also feature the likes of Linkin Park, Goo Goo Dolls and Black Veil Brides among others.
Following their recording sessions for the forthcoming album Mastodon will head to Europe for a summer long tour that includes dates at this year's Sonisphere Festival as well as Rock Im Park, Roskilde and more.
