Paul McCartney to perform at the Yankee Stadium

Thu, 09 Jun 2011

Paul McCartney is to perform a huge outdoor show in New York City's Yankee Stadium next month which is set to kick off the former Beatles legend's 2011 'On The Run' tour, which is a reference to his classic 1973 album 'Band on the Run.'

As of yet, no other dates for the forthcoming tour have been announced but the Yankee Stadium gig has been confirmed and will take place on Friday 15th July.

Tickets for the show, which will likely feature cuts from The Beatles, Wings, his own solo material, and The Fireman album Electric Arguments, will go on sale Monday, June 13th at 11:00 AM EDT.

The last time McCartney performed at a New York stadium was Citi Field, in 2009 in which he played 3 sold-out nights. It was the first concert to be held at the stadium and the shows were then documented on a CD/DVD package called "Good Evening New York City."
