Reading & Leeds Festival to screen legendary 1992 Nirvana performance

Thu, 30 Jun 2011

In 1992, Nirvana played the UK's Reading Festival with a set so memorable it was released as a live DVD "Live At Reading" in 2009.

Reading & Leeds Festival organisers Festival Republic have confirmed their plans to NME.com to screen the performance at this year's events.

The Nirvana set will air on the opening night of Leeds, and the closing night of Reading on the 'Alternative Stage'. Originally plans were to screen the set in 3D but organisers have hinted they may save that for the 20th anniversary of the set (next year).

"It was such a legendary performance that so many people haven't seen - so we had to do it. It was one of those seminal moments that changed everything - which is what Reading's all about," Festival Republic Arts Booker, Tania Harrison explained.
