Bret Michaels talks Motley Crue tour and more

Mon, 04 Jul 2011

Brett Michaels

Poison frontman Bret Michaels has recently shrugged off some severe health issues to embark on their tour with hair metallers, Motley Crue and proto-punks, The New York Dolls. He has been talking with the US newspaper The Miami Herald about the tour and what it takes to reach the heady heights of the rock 'n' rolls big leagues.

Poison set out with Motley Crue and The Dolls on their summer trek back in June on 7th in Dallas. Michaels states the tour so far as been 'incredible' and points out that seeing different generations of their fans together is 'mind blowing & awesome.'

Michaels gushed: "It’s been incredible. Seeing all the generations of fans together is just mind-blowing and awesome. The energy the crowd brings to the table is great. It’s amazing to see how music can transcend age and be passed on. It’s really a great time for me out here right now. When we all hit the stage, the crowd is always energized and electric. It’s the best feeling in the world to hear the fans scream and sing the songs back to you; it’s the ultimate high."

Michaels has gone on to forge a successful career for himself away from his position as head of the glam-metallers and has worked as an actor, director, screenwriter and producer. But he always imagined a lifelong career with his 'brothers' in Poison.

He said: "I imagined a lifelong career with them. Life is about loyalty to me, you stick together. I’m still amazed by the guys and by what we’ve done together in our career: We turned nothing into something and never faked it. Being real is the one ingredient that leads to longevity, and 25 years later here we are. I honestly believe that having that kind of experience behind us, we’re a better band than we have ever been. Poison is a party, and obviously we aren’t kids anymore, but it’s still about having a great time. That’s what it’s always been about."

In related news Michaels has just partnered with Dean Guitars to create his very own line of electric and acoustic signature models. Dean Guitars CEO Elliot Rubinson said: "We are extremely excited to work with Bret, he's the ultimate professional. We are in development on Bret's first-ever signature line of acoustic and electric instruments."

Poison are currently midway through their summer trek of the US with Motley Crue and The New York Dolls and will be until August 17th when the tour comes to a close at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in San Diego.
