Weezer & The Flaming Lips to literally 'co-headline' on upcoming tour

Wed, 13 Jul 2011

This year we have seen a number of co-headline tours announced with none so more contrasting then the announcement of the Weezer & The Flaming Lips shows.

But, now it has since been reported that they literally intend to co-headline and are preparing to share the stage together. According to Pitchfork they will both set up on the stage at the same time and trade songs together at two shows in the greater New York area.

On July 28th at New Jersey's PNC Bank Arts Centre and the following night at the Jones Beach Theatre in what is understood to be a first, the bands will perform alternately throughout the set in a "back2back" fashion usually more suited to DJs.

In a press release, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo says, "I asked Wayne if he has an extra bubble I could ride in." We'll just have to see what happens."
