A one of a kind Fender Stratocaster painted by British animator, Ian Emes, who was first recruited by the band to create animations to be projected during their live performances of Dark Side of the Moon, sold for $26,000 on Friday in an online auction.
The auction kicked off on Thursday with an opening bid of $2,500 and after 17 bids finally sold for $25,000 on the closing day, via charitybuzz.com
The guitar features artwork taken from his 'Time' sequence and was signed by Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Dave Gilmour and Emes. The body of the guitar has been encapsulated to protect and preserve the artwork.
All net proceeds from the auction will benefit Crisis, which is a charity organization dedicated to helping the homeless and provides services such as education, employment, housing & health.
