Jimi Hendrix biopic rumours quashed
Wed, 20 Jul 2011
Experience Hendrix have quashed the recent rumours that an upcoming movie on the wayward life of the Seattle guitar maestro is nearing production, reports undercover.fm.
A number of music and entertainment websites reported last week that a big screen biopic was nearing production with some parts of the media even claiming that Andre 3000 of OutKast was being lined up to play the lead role.
But Experience Hendrix have now put the rumours to bed via a press release:
"We have made it known many times in the past that no such film, were it to include original music or copyrights created by Jimi Hendrix, can be undertaken without its full participation."
Although it does look as though the Jimi Hendrix estate is to release yet more unseen documentary footage of the guitar hero. Hendrix’s sister Janie, who is the CEO of Experience Hendrix has stated:
"With Sony Legacy, our partner, we are active in releasing documentary material starring, so to speak, Jimi Hendrix as himself and plan to continue on this path."
However, Experience Hendrix haven't ruled out licensing the Hendrix musical legacy in the future but insists that they would have to be involved with any movie adaptation.
